A new way to improve logistic services and share technological solutions. The port of Trieste continues to invest in the European planning sector, with a budget 24.7 million, financed with EU funds, and 15 new projects activated in the last two years. The most recent project is named ”Smartlogi”, Sustainable and intelligent cross-border Logistics, focusing on technological innovation for intermodality, under the guidance of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea – Port of Trieste.
The project – with a duration of 24 months and a budget of about 1.3 million -is co-financed by the Cross-border Italy-Austria Cooperation Programme and is developed in collaboration with the Interport of Fuernitz, the University of Klagenfurt, the ”Without Borders” EGCT, the Veneto Region, the Iuav University of Venice and Eurac. The purpose will be to enhance co-operation both on operational and institutional level, concerning sustainable intermodal transport, with a view to reducing the impact on the environment in terms of gas emissions, CO2 and noise in the Alpine area, from Brenner to Tarvisio.
The Port of Trieste and the Austrian terminal of Fuernitz (Villach) will adopt a shared technological solution for real time data exchange, in order to make rail freight transport more convenient and efficient.
