The definition of instrumental mechanic indicates the strategic sector of the Italian economy that concerns the production of machinery or plants for the various productive sector. A lively and pulsating sector of Italian production, which fully enters the excellence of Made in Italy and exports of our country.
A lively and pulsating sector of Italian production, which fully enters the excellence of Made in Italy and exports of our country. This sector ranks Italy in fifth place among the countries that export half of global production. Only China, Germany, United States and Japan overcome Italy.
The instrumental mechanic is a heterogeneous sector that includes:
- The machines “necessary” for the operation of another machine
- The “autonomous” that operate independently
- The specific machinery, that is mechanics in the strict sense.
The 10th SACE Export Report 2016-2019 analyses in particular four instrument mechanics:
- Machine tools
- Machines to work plastics and rubber
- Textiles machines
- Machines for packaging.
The strength of the companies of the sector is the highly orientation to export which led to achieve good results in terms of productively. The sector, however, is affected by a reduced company size, which leaves room for the most recognized brand “made in Germany”.
It follows that, in view of the growth of this sector, export and innovation must travel alongside. Machines and technologies, indeed, are increasingly requested to combine practicality, eco-sustainability and convenience, directing the future of the sector towards innovation and interconnections, with special attention to savings and “green”.
The innovation of the mechanical engineering industry is taking shape not only with mechatronics and advanced robotics, but also with the application of “smart” systems that optimize the connection of the various resources of a manufacturing company, improving the quality of the products.
